Okay I'm gonna stop being a Tumblr addict for 5 minutes and say some things.
First, as most of you may know, YouTube has been changed again. As usual.
And it sucks.
As usual.
Google, deciding that it would be a good idea to shove its stupid Google+ in our faces, screwed around with the commenting system. Now you need a Google+ account just to comment.
Even as someone who doesn't even use a Google account, let alone have it tied to YouTube, this pisses me off. It means you won't simply be able to log in to YouTube and post a comment. Oh, no. Now you have to have your Google account tied to a service completely unrelated to YouTube as well. It also means people will be able to read your comments. From your Google+ page.
And while we're talking about the screwed up new comment system, they've removed the buttons to upvote/downvote a comment or flag it as spam.
And they've changed the viewing of comments so that now, by default, "top" comments are higher up.
But without the comment rating system, how do they determine the top comments now?
Popularity.
They use how many YouTube subscribers/Google+ followers/some fucking shit like that to determine how high up your comment. Which means if I started using YouTube just now, my comments would always be at the very bottom.
Of course, there's an option to change the reading back to newest comments first, but apparently it always defaults to most popular commenter first.
On the plus side, people won't be flagging people as spam simply because they disagree with them anymore.
And you know those comments on popular videos which led to long debates and then there's some guy at the end telling you to click "(Show comment)" to go on a comment adventure? Yep, the fucking "(Show comment)" thing's gone too. Now it just says who they're replying to. And to see which comment they're replying to, you have to click on the "in reply to" thing, which is fine I guess except that it reloads the eNTIRE FUCKING PAGE. The old "(Show comment)" thing was cool because you could see the comment being replied to without having to reload the page. But then that went the fucking drain, like many great things before it like video responses, the page that shows you who's subscribed to you (apparently), remotely unique channel designs.
Yep, YouTube's gone to shit.
Now before this entire journal turns into a ten-page essay about how fucking shit YouTube's become, I want to say a few other things.
First, I know I haven't done anything on this site in months, and I'm sorry. I promise you someday I'll return. However, it will be on a new account. I'm not exactly sure when this will happen, but hopefully somewhere within the next three months.
Also, when I do return, my focus will be changing from making random shit in Photoshop to something more along the lines of working with Blender 3D and trying to make weapons for Team Fortress 2.
Also, I've become a fan of Team Fortress 2.
I don't really have much more to say so I think I'll end it here.
Well, back to Tumblr.
